28. Italian Stlye
by Roberta Marangoni
Tales of Future Past
Francesca Villa creative path features stunning American Daguerreotypes and old Casino chips, vintage ex-voto and quality metal toy soldiers. US party pins from the 50's and military star decorations all re-interpreted and incorporated in her gorgeous 18 carat gold jewellery items. Her individual gold designs – cast in small quantities and often produced as limited editions – are a clear invitation to discover the universe hidden within. While strikingly contemporary, each piece in the collections delves into and makes reference to the past.
A poetic research
Cristina Rotondaro has always been influenced by forms, colours and cultures of the countries
- Morocco, Brazil and the Philippines - which she has lived in. All of this manifests itself in her precious gold creations and elaborate pieces which reveal ancient fabrication techniques. ‘Eka’ jewellery reinterprets the timeless purity of the ancient symbols, transforming them into body ornaments which evoke memories of divinity and prosperity. Each 18 carat gold item is completely handcrafted by the excellent expertise of the best Italian artisans.
Interpreting a contemporary vision
Alba Polenghi Lisca has often shifted from jewellery making to painting and back again. Each piece in 18 carat gold of her cultured production is unique and focussed on geometrical shapes. Her main skill is to transform matt gold sheets into precious objects that have an ethereal appearance. A distinctive style in art jewellery that she achieves through the investigation of new textures and by contrasting different colours.
